FAQ

How do I book Beach Hut Six?

You can book and pay directly on our website. If you have any queries, please contact us at bookings@meetyouatsix.com, and we shall respond within 48-hours.

Is there a minimum two or three-day hire of Beach Hut Six?

The hut is available for a single day hire, or multiple days. We understand that people appreciate flexibility during their holidays and want to explore the county. The majority of guests prefer a one-day hire but if you would like to hire the hut for a few days, please email us at bookings@meetyouatsix.com, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

How do I pay for my Beach Hut Six rental?

You can pay online via a credit card or a UK debit card. You can also pay via a bank transfer (BACS). For a transfer, we shall email you the account details.

How will I know that my booking is confirmed? What happens afterwards? I’m new to this!

When a booking is made online, we shall contact the hirer directly within 48-hours. Closer to the date, we shall email you the access code to the lockbox and other information about the hut.

What are the check-in and checkout times?

Check-in is from 09:30 onwards. There is a lockbox at the hut so you may arrive anytime from 09:30 onwards. The combination to the lockbox will be emailed to you a few days before your booking. Please check out of the hut by 21:30.

Where can I park? Is parking included in the hut hire?

Parking is not included with the hiring of the hut. There is a Pay & Display car park on Beach Road that is nearby to Beach Hut Six. It takes less than 15-minutes to reach the hut, depending where you have parked your vehicle. Alternatively, there is parking in the town of Wells. These car parks and spaces are further away and it can take approximately 45-minutes or more, depending on your parking location and fitness level, to walk to the hut. We suggest arriving early, as car parks can fill up very quickly during the summer months and peak holiday periods.

Please note that the Wells Beach Car Park closes over night and times vary depending on the day. For more information about the operation of the Wells Beach Car Park, please check the Holkham Estate’s website.

During the summer, the Holkham Estate runs a free shuttle bus from the town to the beach. For more information, please check the Holkham Estate’s website.

For more information about the town carpark, please check the Wells Guide.

What facilities are at the beach?

All the beach huts at Wells are off the grid and not connected to the mains. However, we will provide you with a 3 L tank of fresh drinking water at the hut before your arrival. The water is plumbed directly to the tap (it’s quite a feat!). If you require more water, there are two public taps for drinking water. One of these is located next to the Lifeguard Hut, which is to the left of Six. Walk along the beach and in 5-minutes, you will see the Lifeguard Hut by a set of steps. The second tap is located in the Beach Road carpark, under the big clock showing the tide times, on the outside of the W/C building (a 10-minute walk).

Can I bring my pets or dog?

Beach Hut Six is located in the dog free zone of Wells Beach, so we regret that pets and dogs are not permitted.

Is there a limit to how many people can stay or visit at Beach Hut Six?

Yes, there is a maximum number of 6 people, inclusive of children, at all times. The beach huts are historically petite and they are located close to one another. We would like to respect our neighbouring huts and avoid overcrowding, and will offer supplies based only on 6 pax.

Do you provide children’s toys or games?

Beach Hut Six is geared more for the adult holidaymaker, but we welcome families. Parents and guardians would need to bring items specifically for their own children such as toys, child-size cutlery, cot, etc.

What equipment or supplies are provided at the hut?

For a full inventory list, please see What You Will Find at Six. We provide dinner cutlery but no sharp cooking knives. We will stock complimentary coffee, a variety of teas, hot chocolate, biscuits, local apple juice, and a few other goodies for you.

Do I need to clean up after using the hut?

Yes, please leave the hut as you found it and remove all your recycling items and rubbish. A broom and dustpan and cleaning products will be provided for tidying up the inside of the hut and washing any used utensils and crockery. Please inform us if there is any damage or breakages as soon as possible, so that we have time to prepare the hut for the next guests.

Can I have a BBQ at the hut?

The lighting of any fires, including BBQs, candles, fireworks, paper lanterns or similar, is not permitted at the hut or in any areas of the beach and foreshore. Smoking and vaping are prohibited at the hut, including on the balcony.

Can you recommend activities or a food service company during my stay at the hut?

We can suggest ideas for interesting and fun activities and F&B providers. These activities and special orders of food are an additional cost to the hut hire. Please contact us in advance if you would like to book an activity or order a hamper, especially during the peak season. Thank you in advance for supporting our local businesses!

What is the accessibility like at the hut?

It would take less than 10-minutes for most adults to reach the hut on foot from the main boardwalk ramp that leads onto the beach (if approaching from the Wells-next-the-Sea Beach Café, past the Coastwatch Tower). One would be walking directly on the sandy beach after exiting the ramp. There are 12 steps in the staircase up from the beach to the hut itself. The staircase has a railing on either side for support. There is a safety gate at the top of the staircase. Please contact us if you have any further questions on accessibility.

I’m staying at the beach hut, so why do I need to know about high or low tides?

The tides in Wells vary significantly and we encourage everyone to check the tide times table. At high tide, for example, the water can be a few metres away from the beach huts and at low tide, the water may be a 400 m walk away. Be sure to check the tide times if you are planning to cross the channel or walk to nearby areas. An incoming tide is deceptive and begins with a trickle, but once it starts running, it can come in very fast. At Six, we will have a copy of the tide table for you, but you may also want to check the Met Office. During the peak seasonal times of the year, there are lifeguards stationed on the beach.

If I book multiple days at the hut, will my daily supplies be replenished?

The majority of our complimentary supplies ought to last for more than one day. However, we can drop by the hut and replenish, if necessary.

Could I organise a photoshoot at Beach Hut Six?

We admit that Beach Hut Six is very ‘Instagrammable’ but professional photoshoots, videography and drone footage are prohibited.

What if I encounter an issue during my stay at the hut and need to speak to someone?

Before your arrival, we shall email you the contact number of our team who can help, should you require any assistance.
